چکیده
Abstract A sensitivity-enhanced hot-wire anemometer based on a cladding-etched optical fiber Bragg grating (FBG) coated with layer of silver film and optically heated by using 1480 nm laser diode is demonstrated. The absorbs the power to heat FBG certain high temperature airflow cools down cooling effect hence wavelength determined velocity. Experimental measurement results show that heating efficiency hot wire improved 3.8 times in magnitude etching cladding from 125 µm 73.4 µm, achieved velocity sensitivities, under 200 mW, are −3 180 pm/(m/s), −889 −268 −8.7 pm/(m/s) at different velocities 0.1 m/s, 0.5 1.5 17 respectively. In comparison, sensitivities only −2193 −567 −161 −4.9 for reference without even much higher 530 mW. These prove method improve sensitivity FBG-based anemometers works significantly.

A Temperature-Insensitive Cladding-Etched Fiber Bragg Grating Using a Liquid Mixture with a Negative Thermo-Optic Coefficient
To compensate for the temperature dependency of a standard FBG, a cladding-etched FBG immersed with a liquid mixture having a negative thermo-optic coefficient is presented, and its characteristics are investigated. The Bragg wavelength of the cladding-etched FBG is shifted counter to the direction of the Bragg wavelength shift of a conventional FBG according to the mixing ratio of glycerin to ...
متن کاملOptical-Based Sensors for Monitoring Corrosion of Reinforcement Rebar via an Etched Cladding Bragg Grating
In this paper, we present the development and testing of an optical-based sensor for monitoring the corrosion of reinforcement rebar. The testing was carried out using an 80% etched-cladding Fibre Bragg grating sensor to monitor the production of corrosion waste in a localized region of the rebar. Progression of corrosion can be sensed by observing the reflected wavelength shift of the FBG sens...

A sensitivity-improved fiber-optic strain sensor using an etched and regenerated fiber Bragg grating (ER-FBG) suitable for a large range of temperature measurements has been proposed and experimentally demonstrated. The process of chemical etching (from 125 µm to 60 µm) provides regenerated gratings (at a temperature of 680 °C) with a stronger reflective intensity (from 43.7% to 69.8%), togethe...
متن کاملOrientation-Dependent Displacement Sensor Using an Inner Cladding Fiber Bragg Grating
An orientation-dependent displacement sensor based on grating inscription over a fiber core and inner cladding has been demonstrated. The device comprises a short piece of multi-cladding fiber sandwiched between two standard single-mode fibers (SMFs). The grating structure is fabricated by a femtosecond laser side-illumination technique. Two well-defined resonances are achieved by the downstrea...
